Highlights of 2008-2009, Spring Season

As we rounded the corner into January, the choir began to do two things at once...sound much more like an ensemble and not be together as much. For months, it seemed that we could not get EVERYONE at anything...either some were sick or at swim meets or heaven knows where, but the sound of the choir began to disintegrate at Mass sometimes. What we were capable of became what we could get by with. Some bright spots in the landscape of diminishing returns were:

January's Mass---Tallis' If Ye Love Me turned out really nice:

February brought some challenges as we sang with the Adult Choir for one of their Masses. These two pieces with the adults have rehearsal video that goes with them, but here are the sound files from Mass:

Be Thou My Vision

I Will Sing of Thy Mercies

And at our Mass, we sang one of my favorite Proulx arrangements--- Alleluia, Song of Gladness

By March, the fruition of MONTHS of work by Claire & Kaitlyn resulted in the following moment in Mass where they sang together Colin Mawby's By the Waters of Babylon

And the next morning, at the 8:00 AM Mass, the advanced trebles sang our favorite anthem of ALL TIME... Nunc Tempus Acceptabile written by our favorite conductor & composer Mr. Paul French (see post below for details about Mr. Paul)

Our official choir season ended with Easter, but we were missing people...three of them to be precise. Easter Song was all that I kept from that morning, because the sound of the choir suffered from having members absent:
